Message from the Principal
What an exciting time it is to be a student at Blountsville Elementary School! My name is Shannon Lakey, and I get to be the principal of this amazing school. Blountsville Elementary was created in 1927 at the present location. Since that time, people have been working hard to make this school the best it can be for our students. We have close to seventy employees and around 700 students. We serve grades pre-kindergarten all the way to sixth. As students begin their journey each day, they are able to start with a delicious breakfast prepared by our child nutrition staff in the newly remodeled cafetorium. Then, they walk down the blue lined hallways to find their correct path of learning. It will take them to a classroom with a teacher who has been researching the best techniques that lead to optimal student success. While on their journey, they will stop off in the media center that features a magazine worthy environment. Students are able to engage in STEAM activities while also being nestled in a reading loft. As it is time to change classes, they may also find themselves engaged in a physical education class that includes a fitness playground. Students have a blast developing both their fine and gross motor skills with friends who will last a lifetime. By this time, they will need to come back inside the forever clean environment to enjoy a cool down drink of water from the bottle filler stations. During their time here at Blountsville Elementary, students will have educational opportunities that they can reap the benefits from for years in the future. I look forward to meeting each of you and seeing what the journey of a lifetime has in store.
